Overview
The 5.0.0 release of the DVN software brings many improvements, optimizations, and changes. The primary addition to the 5.0.0 release is our new high-throughput network appliance.
New Features
The new features and improvements in the 5.0.0 release are as follows:
10G Appliance
In order to support high bandwidth, site-to-site style communications, we have developed a network appliance box capable of supporting up to 10Gbps speeds of throughput. The physical appliance runs a new version of our Linux-based software that replaces the old packet capture/processing mechanism with a new DPDK-based stack.
Contact Dispersive for additional details on pricing/ordering the appliance.
From an architecture perspective, the appliance expects to "bookend" your network traffic. Stated differently, to achieve the most optimized and high bandwidth transmissions of data, you need one appliance on each end of the transmissions. Using the 10G appliance with a legacy Dispersive software instance on the other end of the transmission will limit performance.
This breakthrough in performance will allow for a broader set of use cases in site-to-site transmissions and opens the door for future enhancements and improvements.
Other Improvements in 5.0.0
- Refactors of form logic on the majority of the edit screens to enhance performance and reliability of forms.
- Session graph bug fixes and enhancements.
- Fixed several instances of table sorting issues.
Known Issues
- Downloading large log files from the Status Portal within Orchestrator does not currently work.
